Millwall in advanced talks to sign Reading's Nigerian forward; Bolton Wanderers set to miss out
Published: July 03, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Championship outfit Millwall are in advanced talks to sign Reading's London-born Nigerian forward Femi Azeez.
Femi is the elder brother of Arsenal's Hale End Academy product Miguel Azeez and he's also qualified to represent Spain at international level through his mother.
Millwall are set to pull off a massive transfer coup with the imminent signing of Femi Azeez as multiple Football League clubs were in the race for his signature.
Predominantly a right winger, the 23-year-old put himself in the shop window after a storybook season that saw him directly participate in seventeen goals (8 goals, 9 assists) for the Royals in the EFL League One.
Bolton Wanderers were pushing to sign Azeez but it is all but confirmed that he will reject a move to the Toughsheet Community Stadium in favour of a transfer to Millwall.
He started his senior career with non-league clubs Northwood and Wealdstone before joining the Royals in September 2019, following a successful trial.
Azeez was promoted to Reading's first team on a full-time basis after his brilliant displays for the development squad
In May 2024, Reading unilaterally activated a one-year option to his contract, meaning his deal runs out on June 30, 2025.
Retired Nigeria international Danny Shittu had two different spells at Millwall during his playing days.
