Liverpool on brink of deal to sign Golden Eaglets-eligible forward from Chelsea
Published: July 08, 2024
Liverpool are close to snatching one of Chelsea's prodigious talents from their grasp and that is Golden Eaglets-eligible forward Rio Ngumoha.
According to respected transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are closing in on a deal for the 15-year-old and are ready to break their Academy wage structure to bring him to the club.
Ngumoha has been a subject of interest for a number of European clubs after it emerged that Chelsea were finding it difficult to keep him at Stamford Bridge with Liverpool now looking to have won the race to get his signature.
Should he complete a move to Merseyside, the talented forward will join Afolami Onanuga, Wellity Lucky and Louis Enahoro-Marcus as the Nigeria-eligible players in Liverpool's youth ranks.
The England youth international has been likened to Jamal Musiala who also left Chelsea for Bayern Munich, due to his ability to glide past defenders and maneuver the ball in tight spaces.
He won the Premier League U16 Nationals Player of the Tournament last October after helping the Blues win the trophy and also scored a fantastic goal in the U17 Premier League Cup final in April.
Ngumoha featured 9 times in the U18 Premier League last season and has also trained with Chelsea's first team in the past.
