Published: July 10, 2024
Super Falcons striker Jennifer Echegini has expressed her delight after securing a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Juventus.
Echegini has signed a three-year contract with PSG, keeping her at the club until June 2027.
In an official statement on its website, PSG announced the signing of the Nigerian forward from Juventus. Echegini described the transfer as a proud moment in her career.
"Today is a great moment in my career. Signing for Paris Saint-Germain is an immense source of pride. I'm very proud to be joining a club recognised around the world for its ambition and excellence.
"I can't wait to get started and I can't wait to give my all to try and win as many trophies as possible, with my team-mates and for the fans." she said.
Born in Nijmegen, Netherlands, Jennifer began her football career in England, developing in the youth ranks of Millwall Lionesses FC and Arsenal.
In 2019, she moved to the United States, joining the University of Mississippi before transferring to Florida State in 2022.
During her last season in the American university championship, the 23-year-old led her team to the title of 2023 NCAA Champions.
Her outstanding performances earned her numerous accolades, including best attacker and best player in the Atlantic Coast Conference, as well as the prestigious Hermann Trophy.
Jennifer started 2024 by signing for Juventus, where she quickly made an impact, scoring 10 goals and providing an assist in 16 matches across all competitions.
Her contributions helped the Turin club qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League, earning her a spot in the Championship Team and the title of best prospect of the season.
Her impressive stint at Juventus caught the attention of PSG, who have now secured her signature for the next three years.
Jennifer represented the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA World Cup in Australia and is set to represent Nigeria at the upcoming Olympics in Paris.
