ANS exclusive confirmed: Leicester City announce Ndidi has extended his contract
Published: July 12, 2024
With a statement on their official website, Premier League new boys Leicester City have announced that Wilfred Ndidi has extended his stay at the King Power Stadium.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported with certainty fifteen days ago that the Nigeria international has decided to prolong his stay at the King Power Stadium despite speculation linking him with possible moves to top five European League clubs in Spain, France, Italy and England.
The Foxes have confirmed as much, stating that the central midfielder has signed a fresh contract that will keep him at the club until at least June 30, 2027, subject to FA approval.
Ndidi is the second longest-serving Leicester City player on a first team contract after Jamie Vardy, having originally signed from Racing Genk in January 2017.
If the parties honour the agreement, the Nath Boys product would extend his stay at Leicester City beyond a decade.
Since his arrival in England, he has won the Emirates FA Cup, FA Community Shield and most recently, the Championship title with Leicester City.
Commenting on his new contract, Ndidi said: "I feel great, I feel excited, I feel at home. That’s the most important thing. I feel really happy to continue with the Club.
"My family is settled here and everyone back home, when they say Ndidi, they say Leicester also! It’s really amazing to be a part of this journey going forward.”
Ndidi has made 273 appearances in all competitions as a Leicester City player, registering 34 goal involvements (17 goals, 17 assists).
The 27-year-old was named Leicester City's Young Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018.
