Ipswich and Aston Villa-linked forward Iheanacho agrees move to Sevilla after departure from Leicester
Published: July 27, 2024
According to German transfer market expert Florian Plettenberg, Kelechi Iheanacho is on the verge of joining Sevilla.
The Spanish La Liga side signed Chidera Ejuke on a free transfer earlier in the summer and are on the verge of signing another Nigeria international forward as they continue to improve their squad ahead of the new season.
Iheanacho has reached a verbal agreement with Sevilla and a medical has been booked for Tuesday/Wednesday ahead of his possible unveiling.
Sevilla will be without the services of Youssef En-Nesyri next term as the Moroccan forward has departed the club for Fenerbahçe, thereby leaving a vacuum in García Pimienta's side.
It appears the hole left by En-Nesyri will now be filled by Iheanacho who is currently a free agent as a result ofnot renewing his Leicester City contract which expired last month.
The 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner has been linked with a host of clubs including Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town as well as Aston Villa but has decided to embark on a new adventure by moving to Spain.
Iheanacho has spent his entire career in England having started at Manchester City before making a move to Leicester City in 2017 and spent seven years with the club.
If the deal goes through as expected, Iheanacho will join Ejuke, Arsenal loanee Albert Sambi Lokonga, Peque Fernández and Saúl Ñíguez as Sevilla's new players.
