Napoli open to discussing Osimhen as part of Lukaku talks with Chelsea
Published: July 29, 2024
According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Napoli could be open to including Victor Osimhen in their discussion with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku.
It is no news that the future of the two strikers has become entangled with Osimhen wanting to leave Napoli while Lukaku wants to join the Italian club but can only do so if the former departs.
The Parthenopeans are ready to let the Nigerian striker leave but their €130m price tag has distanced Chelsea away from pursuing a deal for him despite their long-term interest in his signature.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have since then been focused on getting younger and cheaper targets like Samu Omorodion as they continue their pursuit to bolster Enzo Maresca's attacking options for next season.
Without making any progress in their pursuit of Omorodion or any other striker and with Romelu Lukaku remaining stuck with them, this could pave the way for the club to revive their interest in Osimhen.
The 25-year-old is also stuck with Napoli as no club has shown the willingness to pay his hefty release clause which has put his future hanging in the balance.
Should the Italian Serie A outfit and the Blues come to terms regarding the transfer of the Nigeria international and Lukaku, Osimhen will still have to reduce his salary demands for the deal to happen.
Since landing at Napoli from Lille in 2020, Osimhen has scored 76 goals and produced 18 assists in 133 all-competition appearances.
