According to The Athletic via TEAMtalk, Chelsea are keen to beat fellow London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham to the signature of Danish-born Nigerian left-back Patrick Dorgu.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have spent a lot of money on the best young starlets around the world in recent years and are keen to add the Lecce fullback to their array of youngsters.
Dorgu had an impressive campaign in the Serie A last term, featuring in 32 games in the Italian top-flight and chipping in two goals, making him one of the outstanding players in the division.
His performances have attracted the trio of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham with Spurs reported to have contacted Lecce about the possibility of signing the youngster and were told to cough out €30m for him.
The Blues are ready to beat their London neighbors to the signing of the talented defender who could serve as a replacement for England international Ben Chilwell.
There is a doubt about the capacity of Chilwell's suitability to of Enzo Maresca's playing style and he would be sold if an irresistible offer comes.
This would leave Marc Cucurella as the only natural left back in Chelsea's rank and as a result the club would be needing another left back to rival the Spanish international.
