Former Southampton winger details Dessers' moment of brilliance in Rangers draw against Hearts

Former Southampton winger Neil McCann was left impressed with Cyriel Dessers' moment of brilliance during Rangers' barren draw with Heart of Midlothian during the Scottish Premiership opening game played on Saturday afternoon at the Tynecastle Stadium.
Despite the uncertainty regarding his future, Philippe Clement decided to name the Super Eagles striker in the starting lineup, indicating that he is still in the plans of the Belgium-born tactician.
The experienced striker got close to opening the scoring in the 41st minute but his half-volleyed effort was saved by the goalkeeper.
Six minutes before the hour mark, he almost got on the scoresheet when his close-range header came off the crossbar but it was his effort in the 21st minute of the encounter that grabbed the headlines.
The Nigerian striker received a pass from Mohamed Diomande after an striker-esque move, controlled it beautifully but couldn't convert his effort to goal.
McCann who was on commentary duties on Sky Sports was left impressed with Dessers' effort and was effusive about it in his remarks though also stated that he could have done better.
"The run's good and I tell you his first touch is brilliant. He does everything right here. Watch him how he'll control it, just knocks it beyond Kai Rowles, but he's got to finish there," McCann was quoted as saying by Ibrox News.
"He's trying to go for the lob but just doesn't get enough cushion on the touch... I just wondered whether he could have maybe slotted it past Zander Clark who was totally committed".
According to Sofascore, Dessers made 23 touches in the game, completed one dribble, recorded 58% passes completion, had one shot on target and off target.
