Published: August 05, 2024
English Premier League club Newcastle United are on the verge of confirming the signing of Danish-born Nigerian forward William Osula from Sheffield United, subject to a routine medical.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the dual-national player has already landed in Newcastle ahead of his proposed move to the Magpies.
The Italian transfer market specialist is reporting that Osula is moving to Newcastle United for a guaranteed fee of ten million pounds, corresponding to approximately N20.6 billion in Nigerian currency.
In addition, the Blades will pocket five million pounds with performance-related add-ons included, meaning he could end up costing fifteen million pounds.
Osula has been on the books of Sheffield United since 2018, rising through the youth team ranks to make his professional debut in a goalless draw against Blackpool on March 16, 2022.
The 21-year-old has appeared in thirty-ome matches across all competitions since his senior debut for the Blades, putting his name on the scoresheet three times
He has a bit of Premier League experience, playing in twenty-one matches over the course of the 2023-2024 season.
Osula has caught the eye in pre-season, netting in back-to-back games against York City and Chesterfield, but was not included in the matchday squad as Sheffield United were held to a 1-1 draw by Huddersfield Town on Saturday, fueling speculation of an imminent move.
