'Unless they stop offering peanuts' - Southampton insider reveals Onuachu won't join Trabzonspor
Published: August 05, 2024
Southampton insider Adam Blackmore has revealed that Paul Onuachu won't join Trabzonspor this summer if the Turkish outfit refuse to pay the valuation of the striker.
The Saints reportedly want €10m for the Nigerian forward who was on loan with the Turkish side in the last campaign but they have only offered as much as €7m till date.
This explains the reason behind the stalemate in the discussion between both clubs for the Nigerian forward who is back with the English side for pre-season training.
Onuachu was one of the outstanding forwards in the Turkish topflight last season and was named in whoscored.com's Team of the Season, having registered nineteen goal involvements (15 goals, 4 assists).
Trabzonspor are keen on signing the lanky striker permanently after his impressive performance last season but Southampton's valuation has been a stumbling block.
Blackmore has reiterated that the newly promoted Premier League side won't sell Onuachu to Trabzonspor for a cheap price.
"There's a lot to happen this month at Southampton and the likes of Alcaraz, Armel Bella-Kotchap and Onuachu getting moves will help," he posted on X.
"I'm told tall Paul won't be going to Trabzonspor (as some have said) unless they stop offering Saints peanuts for him... his goal scoring record deserves more for sure."
Despite being keen on moving to join the Turkish giants, the Nigeria international is not trying to force a move and is currently preparing for the new season with Southampton.
The Championship Promotion play-offs winners will get their season underway with a Premier League clash against Newcastle at St.James' Park on August 17.
