Bournemouth star striker Solanke gives green light to Tottenham Hotspur move
Published: August 07, 2024
Anglo-Nigerian striker Dominc Solanke has reportedly agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur.
According to transfer markey guru Fabrizio Romano, the Bournemouth star wants to join Tottenham Hotspur and the two Premier League clubs are in talks over a deal.
Solanke could be returning to London, seven years after he departed boyhood club Chelsea to Liverpool, where he arrived with high hopes after winning the Golden Ball at the 2017 Fifa U2O0 World Cup, but struggled to make an impression.
Tottenham are pushing to sign the one-cap England international with the future of Brazilian striker Richarlison up in the air.
For his deal to Tottenham to go through, the release clause in his contract has to be activated, which means the north London club have to pay the Cherries £65 million.
Negotiations are ongoing but it could prove difficult as Bournemouth do not want to sell their standout player who made a splash in last season's Premier League by mustering 19 goals in 38 appearances - more than any other player of Nigerian descent in the top five European leagues.
Solanke participated in Bournemouth's first two pre-season games against Wrexham and Arsenal, but was not involved in their most recent friendly with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday amid speculation surrounding his future at the Vitality Stadium.
Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola insisted that Solanke's absence against the Spanish opponents has nothing to do with reports linking him with a departure from the club, adding that the the former England youth international missed the game due to injury.
