Ogunneye and Oyedele show support to injured Manchester United teammate Yoro
Published: August 07, 2024
Tri-national player Maxi Oyedele and England youth international of Nigerian descent Habeeb Ogunneye are among the Manchester United players who have sent messages of support to Leny Yoro after the defender shared an update on his recent injury.
English-Polish-Nigerian midfielder Oyedele traveled with the Red Devils to their pre-season tour of the United States, where he trained alongside Yoro, a summer signing from French Ligue 1 team Lille.
Last month, the two players of Nigerian descent were in the Manchester United squad that defeated Rangers in a pre-season game in Edinburgh, where the France U23 international made his unofficial debut for the Premier League giants.
Yoro sustained a foot injury in the first half of the friendly against Arsenal in Los Angeles, United States, leading to his substitution in the 35th minute.
The 18-year-old has had a successful surgery and United are optimistic about his recovery within roughly three months.
"This is not the start I wanted, but that’s football. The operation went well. Thank you for your many messages of support," Yoro posted on Instagram, via Manchester United's official website.
"Now, time for patience and rehabilitation work. See you soon, stronger."
Replying to Yoro's post, Oyedele and Ogunneye extended their well wishes to the Frenchman with a heart emoji.
Oyedele played in every one of the five matches contested by Manchester United during their pre-season preparations.
