Bournemouth agree to sell Solanke to Tottenham Hotspur; Liverpool stand to benefit financially
Published: August 09, 2024
As reported by transfer market guru David Ornstein for The Athletic, Bournemouth have agreed a club-record fee to sell Super Eagles-eligible striker Dominic Solanke, to Tottenham Hotspur with talks still going on between both clubs on the completion of the deal.
Tottenham have agreed personal terms with the striker with only negotiation yet to be completed with the Cherries, after which a medical will be scheduled.
The report didn't state the valuation which the 26-year-old will be sold for but he has a £65m release clause inserted to his contract which can only triggered by some clubs, one of which is Tottenham.
Solanke's former club Liverpool stand to benefit financially from the sale of the one-cap England international as they inserted a 20 percent sell-one clause into the deal taking him to the Vitality Stadium in 2019.
Spurs have not bought a senior striker since the departure of club icon Harry Kane and while Solanke's arrival has been said to be dependent on the sale of Richarlison, that has now been proven to be untrue.
Solanke had a prosperous season in the Premier League with Andoni Iraola's side in the last campaign, finishing the campaign with the fourth most goals scored in the division with 19 goals and that laid the foundation for his imminent move to Spurs.
Tottenham are hoping to get the deal for Solanke over the line before their first competitive game of the new season against Wilfred Ndidi's Leicester City on August 19, 2024.
