Crystal Palace join Barcelona, AC Milan in race to sign Chelsea midfielder of Nigerian descent
Published: August 12, 2024
According to The Sun, Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign Nigerian midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka who has also been linked with Barcelona and AC Milan.
The Eagles are said to be lining up a move for the 20-year-old alongside his Chelsea teammate Trevoh Chalobah but want to sign the latter on loan as they are unwilling to pay his £25m valuation.
Crystal Palace's interest in Chukwuemeka stems from the loss of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich as the club want the England youth international to come in and make up for the departure of the latter.
They have managed to sign Senegalese winger Ismaïla Sarr but need more additions to bolster their attacking department which explains the pursuit of the Aston Villa academy product.
The talented midfielder is behind the pecking order at Stamford Bridge at the moment with Enzo Maresca preferring to play either Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall or Christopher Nkunku in a number 10 role.
He has been linked with Barcelona who may still need to add another body in the midfield after the arrival of Dani Olmo but Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea have received no official bid from the Spanish giants for the midfielder.
AC Milan were the first team to be credited with an interest in him this summer but there is nothing concrete regarding their interest too at the moment.
