Omorodion attracting interest from Premier League club after collapse of Chelsea move
Published: August 12, 2024
Spain U23 international of Nigerian descent Samu Omorodion is attracting interest from an unnamed Premier League club following the collapse of his anticipated move to Chelsea.
The 20-year-old forward, who was on the verge of joining the Blues this summer after reaching an agreement with Atletico Madrid, saw the deal fall apart on Sunday.
Omorodion had already undergone medicals in both Paris and London, with expectations high for his move to Stamford Bridge.
However, with the transfer now off the table, uncertainty surrounds his future, despite his impressive performance on loan at Alaves last season.
The young striker netted eight goals and provided an assist in 34 league appearances, catching the attention of clubs across Europe.
According to Ryan Taylor, a transfer expert from the Daily Mirror, Omorodion is now drawing interest from an undisclosed Premier League club.
Discussions between the player's representatives and the interested club are expected to take place soon to determine whether the striker is keen on making the move.
Omorodion, who is still eligible to represent Nigeria at the international level despite playing for Spain at the Olympics, remains a highly sought-after talent.
The forward scored one goal at the Olympics but has yet to make an appearance for Spain's senior national team, leaving the door open for a potential switch to the Super Eagles.
