West Brom's hat-trick hero Maja highest-rated player in EFL Team of the Week
Published: August 13, 2024
Super Eagles striker Josh Maja has been named in Whoscored's EFL Team of the Week following his heroics for West Brom against Queens Park Rangers in the opening matchday in the Championship last Saturday.
Maja scored a hat-trick as the Baggies got off to a flying start, coming from a goal down to beat QPR 3-1 at Loftus Road, scoring for the second game since joining the English outfit last summer.
The 25-year-old spent most of the time on the treatment table last season and could only feature in 12 games in the Championship, scoring just one goal.
The one-cap Nigeria international couldn't have hoped for a better start to the season, scoring from all his three attempts on goal and as a result helping his side begin the campaign with a triumph over the Rangers.
Maja was the highest rated player (9.53) in the squad that contains the best players from the first matchday across the Championship, League One and League Two.
The Nigerian striker will be seeking to continue his momentum when West Brom face Fleetwood Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup at Highbury Stadium on Tuesday, August 13.
