Enzo Maresca gives Chelsea the green light to push for the signing of Victor Osimhen
Published: August 14, 2024
Through his website, transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed Chelsea technical staff's position on the club's interest in Napoli star Victor Osimhen.
The Premier League giants remain one of the interested clubs in the 25-year-old but there had been claims that the move is not being supported by the coaching staff led by Enzo Maresca.
Contrary to the reports, Di Marzio has stated that the coaching staff has given their consent to the club's hierarchy to go on with the push to sign the elite central forward.
The Premier League giants are working tirelessly to prevent a repeat of last season's setback, fully backing their manager by acquiring players that can boost their squad.
Chelsea are said to still be in search of a striker and that is why the report linking them with Osimhen has refused to go away though they face a huge hurdle in their pursuit to sign the Super Eagles forward.
Due to their hefty spending, the West London side cannot afford to pay his huge release clause and are looking at bringing him on loan but the lanky forward wants a permanent move.
The reigning African Men's Player of the Year also has a huge salary and is not ready to reduce same to facilitate a move to Stamford Bridge.
For this move to happen, both Chelsea and Osimhen need to change their current stance.
With a departure from the Diego Maradona stadium still on the cards, the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner is training away from his teammates.
