'He will not shine' - Nigerian prophet warns Osimhen a move to Chelsea will 'kill his career'
Published: August 14, 2024
Founder of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has warned Napoli star Victor Osimhen not to join Chelsea, suggesting it might harm his career.
In one of the soap operas of the summer transfer window, the future of the reigning African Footballer of the Year has yet to be resolved about two weeks before the window closes for business.
Osimhen is attracting concrete interest from both Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea but the two clubs have been put off by Napoli's 130 million euros valuation of the 25-year-old, who has two years left on his contract.
However, there is a new development regarding the future of the center forward, with further talks between Chelsea and Napoli expected this week.
Napoli's sporting director Giovanni Manna is in London to discuss Osimhen and a potential move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, with manager Antonio Conte keen for a resolution.
The Super Eagles striker joining Chelsea is not off the table but the parties have to reach a compromise.
Primate Elijah Ayodele thinks Osimhen will not make it at Chelsea and urged the Nigeria Football Federation not to invite him to the national team if the deal goes through.
"I want to quickly advise as directly that Osimhen should not go to Chelsea because if he goes to Chelsea he will not shine and it will kill his career," Ayodele said in a video posted on X.
"NFF, if Osimhen goes to Chelsea, don't call him, and also calling Osimhen to the Super Eagles needs to be reviewed properly.
"We have what it takes to go the World Cup and Nations Cup. We begin to preview all of these and see how it goes."
Osimhen has scored 76 goals and produced 18 assists in 133 all-competition appearances since landing at Napoli from Lille in 2020.
