After selling Solanke to Tottenham, Bournemouth to sign replacement striker nicknamed after Lewandowski
Published: August 15, 2024
English Premier League club Bournemouth have reached an agreement to sign Evanilson from FC Porto, according to Fabrizio Romano.
In Portuguese and Brazilian football circles, the prolific Brazilian striker has been nicknamed ‘Lewanilson' in tribute to Barcelona superstar Robert Lewandowski, who is one of the best strikers in the world despite his age.
Bournemouth are looking to fill the void left by Dominic Solanke, who recently transferred to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Anglo-Nigerian center forward joined Tottenham on August 10 for a club-record fee of £55 million, with an additional £10 million possible in bonuses.
His departure follows an impressive season in which he scored 19 goals in the Premier League, a performance that Tottenham hope will help bridge the gap left by Harry Kane's move to Bayern Munich.
Bournemouth, determined to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2024-2025 Premier League season, have agreed to pay €47 million for Evanilson and the deal includes a 10% sell-on clause for Porto.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Evanilson will soon travel to England for a medical examination as part of the final steps of his transfer to Bournemouth.
With 32 goal involvements (25 goals, 7 assists), Evanilson, who was a key player for Porto last campaign, will face the challenge of replicating Solanke's impact at Bournemouth.
Bournemouth will kick off the new Premier League season with a match against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday, August 17.
