Replacement for injured Goncalo Ramos: PSG not willing to go more than N53b to sign Lookman
Published: August 19, 2024
Ademola Lookman's omission from Atalanta's traveling squad to Lecce for their Serie A opener on Monday is an indication that he could be leaving the Bergamo club before the close of the summer transfer window.
French champions Paris Saint-Germain are targeting the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations star as a possible replacement for Goncalo Ramos who fractured his ankle during the club's 4-1 win against Le Havre on Friday and faces three months on the sidelines.
PSG will now have to try to convince Atalanta to sell one of their key players, who is still under contract until June 30, 2026, eleven days before the end of the transfer window.
According to Italian transfer market portal Tuttomercatoweb, Paris Saint Germain are not willing to go beyond 30 million euros (approximately N53 billion in Nigerian currency) for a player intended to replace the injured Gonçalo Ramos.
A move for Lookman would be a smart choice, considering the fact that he is a more affordable option compared to going after Victor Osimhen who is valued in the region of 130 million euros.
In addition, the Charlton Athletic academy graduate offers versatility as he is capable of playing on either wing, as a second striker, center forward or attacking midfielder.
At this stage, Atalanta have no intention of selling Lookman unless they receive an offer too good to turn down, significantly above 30 million euros.
The Super Eagles star has seen his stock rise considerably after his outstanding performance in the 2024 Europa League final, where he scored a historic hat-trick to help Atalanta beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0.
