Published: August 21, 2024
Through official channels, Mexican club Club América Femenil have announced the signing of Nigeria national teamer Chidinma Okeke.
Club América Femenil have not disclosed the length of contract and financial details of the deal.
Sporting the number 5 on the back of her jersey, Okeke started every single game played by the Super Falcons at the 2024 Olympic Games in France.
Club América confirmed the signing of the Super Falcons star approximately fourteen hours after Mexico's ambassador to Nigeria, Alfredo Miranda O. took to social media to announce that Chidinma Okeke is heading to Mexico to join The Eagles, adding that she is a Nigeria international and previously played in Spain and Japan.
A product of FC Robo which produced Super Falcons stars Asisat Oshoala and Rasheedat Ajibade, Okeke has also worn the colours of Madrid CFF, Hapoel Be'er Sheva and MyNavi Sendai in the past.
Club América Femenil have moved to strengthen their defence with Okeke after the transfer of former Barcelona star
Andrea Pereira Cejudo to Pachuca.
The 24-year-old Okeke is set to become the first African to represent Club América Femenil.
Before earning promotion to the Super Falcons, she represented Nigeria at the 2016 Fifa U17 Women's World Cup and U20 Women's World Cup in 2018.
Club América Femenil are competing in the 2024-2025 Concacaf W Champions Cup and face Vancouver Whitecaps on Thursday, August 22.
