Tosin among three Nigeria-eligible players registered by Chelsea for UEFA Conference League
Published: August 21, 2024
Tosin Adarabioyo has been registered in Chelsea's 22-man squad to face Servette in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-offs tomorrow at Stamford Bridge.
The former Fulham centre-back joins Noni Madueke and Carney Chukwuemeka as the Nigeria-eligible players registered by the Premier League giants for their first competitive Europa Conference League fixture.
Adarabioyo's name was initially missing from the squad list but that was down to a glitch from UEFA which has now been corrected as the right footed centre-back is still awaiting his official debut for Chelsea.
He missed the Premier League opener against Manchester City on Sunday as Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill are ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment.
Similarly, Madueke and Chukwuemeka didn't feature against the Citizens and are also waiting for their first competitive match under Enzo Maresca.
Madueke has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge due to the arrival of Pedro Neto and imminently João Félix with Newcastle circling around him.
Likewise, Chukwuemeka's future with the Blues is shrouded in uncertainty after his omission from the matchday squad that faced the Citizens and Maresca expressing doubts about his chances of playing regularly.
Crystal Palace and Napoli have been linked with him but his huge wages is hindering him from getting a move away from Chelsea.
Despite finishing 6th last season, the Blues are being made to contend for a place in the Conference League due to Manchester United's FA Cup triumph over Manchester City.
