Chippa United and Nwabali reach agreement for extension of Super Eagles goalkeeper's contract

With an announcement on X, Chippa United FC has officially announced the contract renewal of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
Chippa United confirmed Nwabali signed a three-year contract renewal with improved terms.
Nwabali joined Chippa United from Katsina United, a club in the Nigeria Premier Football League in 2022. The 28-year-old quickly made a mark in South Africa, leading to his selection for the 2023 AFCON tournament.
During the tournament, Nwabili impressed with four clean sheets and played a key role in Nigeria's journey to the final, where they narrowly lost to the host nation, Ivory Coast, in Abidjan.
His standout performances not only boosted his profile but also saw him linked with the likes of Queens Park Rangers (England), Al-Ettifaq (Saudi Arabia), and South African giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
Nwabali has opted to continue his career with Chippa United. The club expressed their satisfaction with the renewal and highlighted his leadership and commitment.
"We are pleased to announce that Stanley Nwabali has signed an improved three-year contract with Chippa United FC. We are incredibly proud of Stanley’s dedication and commitment to the club," the statement read.
Nwabali will also take on the role of team captain for the upcoming season. The club emphasized that his leadership on and off the field has been exemplary and believes he is well-suited to guide the team through the upcoming challenges.
"His leadership on and off the field has been exemplary, and we believe he is the right person to guide our team through the challenges ahead. With this been said Stanley will be our new team captain for the upcoming season.
"We wish Stanley continued success in his career, both in domestic competitions and on the international stage. We look forward to achieving great things together in the seasons to come."
Nwabali is among the 23 players selected for Nigeria’s 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Republic of Benin and Rwanda.
