Published: August 30, 2024
The English Football Association announced the Young Lions' rosters on Friday, August 30 ahead of international matches in September, with nine Nigeria-eligible players getting call-ups.
Arsenal attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri and Chelsea winger Tyrique George have received their first call-ups to England U19 squad for international matches against Italy, Croatia and Germany.
While Nwaneri has represented the Young Lions at U16 and U17 levels, George, who made his senior Chelsea debut against Servette on Thursday night, has played for England's U16, U17 and U18 national teams.
England will take on Italy at Stadium Nedelišće on Wednesday September 4, followed by games against Croatia at Stadium Koprivnica on Saturday, September 7 and Germany at Stadium Koprivnica three days later.
England U18 coach Liam Bramley has picked two players of Nigerian descent in his squad for the Lafarge International Tournament.
Chelsea central defender Saheed Olagunju, who is heavily linked with a move to Wolves before the close of the transfer window, and exciting Newcastle United forward Trevan Sanusi are part of the squad heading to France for games against the hosts, Portugal and Switzerland.
Meanwhile, West Ham United trio Andre Obinna Dike, Olanrewaju Awesu and Chinazaekpere Nwosu, Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Wesley Okoduwa, and Chelsea striker Chizaram Ezenwata have been selected in the England U17 squad.
Ezenwata, who is also eligible for Cameroon through his mother, has received his first ever call-up to the Young Lions on the back of his outstanding performances in the new season.
