'Crazy' - Man City star of Turkish descent Gundogan reacts to Osimhen's imminent move to Galatasaray
Published: September 03, 2024
Manchester City's former Germany international of Turkish descent, İlkay Gündoğan has taken to social media to react to Osimhen's imminent move to Galatasaray, subject to a routine medical.
It is safe to say that the transfer imbroglio which was hot topic both locally and internationally is all but over as the Nigeria international has flown to Istanbul to sign on the dotted line for the Turkish club.
Napoli decided to exclude Osimhen from their Serie A squad for the first part of the season after proposed transfers to Chelsea and Al-Ahli collapsed on deadline day.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year will spend the remainder of the season on loan at the Turkish Super Lig club, until June 30, 2025, with no purchase option or obligation to buy included in the deal.
If Osimhen is not sold by 2025, his contract would automatically be extended until 2027, with a release clause of approximately 75 million euros.
In recent seasons, Nigerian players Oghenekaro Etebo, Jesse Sekidika, Valentine Ozornwafor and Henry Onyekuru have worn the colours of Galatasaray.
Using emojis, İlkay Gündoğan expressed his surprise at Osimhen's imminent move to Galatasaray, and also posted a lion face along with the colours of Galatasaray, yellow and red.
Replying to Fabrizio Romano's Instagram post on Monday night, Gündoğan added: 'Wow ... crazy'.
