Moses Simon wins Nantes Player of the Month award on the eve of Super Eagles Afconq v Cheetahs
Published: September 06, 2024
Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has been named Nantes' Player of the Month for August, just as Nigeria prepare for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Republic of Benin.
Simon secured the accolade by garnering 43% of the votes, outpacing teammates Alban Lafont, Matthis Abline, and Nathan Zézé.
During August, Simon showcased exceptional form, scoring two goals in three matches. He netted against AJ Auxerre and added another in a 3-1 victory over Montpellier.
He has started every single game played by the Canaries in the French top flight in the new season, logging 237 minutes across the matches.
The Super Eagles player will be presented with the award on September 15, 2024, prior to Nantes' match against Stade de Reims at La Beaujoire.
Simon will be looking to continue his impressive performance on the international stage when Nigeria takes on Benin in Uyo this Saturday, marking the beginning of their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.
He was not involved in the World Cup qualifying fixtures against Benin and South Africa in June 2024 as he was recovering from the injury he sustained in a friendly versus Mali in Marrakech, Morocco.
Following the match against Benin, Nigeria will travel to Kigali to face Rwanda on September 10 at Amahoro Stadium.
