Tottenham handed boost as Solanke returns to training ahead of North London derby
Published: September 13, 2024
Speaking at his pre-match press conference before the north London derby versus Arsenal on Sunday, September 15, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on a couple of key players, including Super Eagles-eligible center forward Dominic Solanke.
Solanke became Tottenham Hotspur's most expensive signing in history following his transfer from Bournemouth a month ago.
Tottenham acquired the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup Golden Ball winner for a transfer fee of £65 million.
Solanke made his competitive debut for Tottenham against Leicester City in a Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on August 19.
The one-cap England international was not available for selection in the last two games before the international break, against Everton and Newcastle United, due to an ankle injury he suffered on his debut.
Solanke is in the frame to be named in the matchday squad to face Arsenal, having returned to training this week.
The 26-year-old will be assessed on Friday and Saturday and could be available for selection provided he doesn't suffer a relapse.
In quotes relayed by Tottenham's official website, Ange said: "It’s fairly positive. Micky's good, he's trained all the way through the international break and it was good for him to stay with us to build him back up so he's ready to go.
"Dom's improved as well and trained the back half of this week. We still have two days to go with those guys so hopefully they get through training ok and are available."
Tottenham Hotspur coped without the injured Solanke, scoring five goals combined against the Toffees and Magpies.
