Twelve Nigerian youngsters named in Arsenal's Premier League squad for 2024-2025 season
Published: September 13, 2024
Arsenal have submitted their squad list to the Premier League following the closure of the summer transfer window on August 30, 2024.
There are two separate lists, the main one containing a total of 22 players, and another reserved for only U21 players and scholars irrespective of nationality.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has supplemented the squad with twelve players aged 21 or under who are eligible to represent the Nigerian national teams.
For the 2024-2025 Premier League season, U21 players will have been born on or after January 1, 2003.
Ethan Nwaneri, the youngest player to feature in the top flight of English football, is joined on the U21 roster by Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Samuel Chinedu, Andre Harriman-Annous, Ifeoluwa Ibrahim, Cam'ron Ismail, Josh Nichols, Joshua Ogunnaike, Brian Okonkwo, Daniel Oyetunde, Khari Ranson and Zac Shuaib.
Chinedu, Harriman-Annous, Ibrahim, Ogunnaike and Ranson have been included in Arsenal's Premier League squad for the first time in their careers after signing scholarship deals with the north London club before the start of the season.
Premier League 2 Player of the Month for August 2024, Butler-Oyedeji has been called up for a Premier League game before, back in the 2022-2023 season where he was a non-playing substitute in a home game against Newcastle United.
Nwaneri was spotted training with the first team at Sobha Realty Training Centre on Friday ahead of Sunday’s north London derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
