Super Eagles forward left out of Nottingham Forest Premier League squad for 2024-2025
Published: September 13, 2024
Emmanuel Dennis' future at Nottingham Forest has been thrown into doubt following his omission from the club's Premier League roster.
Nottingham Forest have submitted their squad list to the Premier League following the conclusion of the summer transfer window and Dennis has not been selected in the 24-man squad, meaning he's not eligible to represent the Reds in the top flight for the first part of the 2024-2025 season.
The Nigeria international was not called up for Forest's first three games of the new Premier League season, an indication that he is surplus to requirements and not in the plans of manager Nuno Espírito Santo.
The Portuguese football tactician ran the rule over Dennis during Nottingham Forest's first two pre-season fixtures against Chesterfield and Sunderland.
Since joining Nottingham Forest from Watford, the former Club Brugge star has struggled to secure a regular starting spot, managing just nine starts in two years.
The transfer window in Turkey closes tonight but the windows in Azerbaijan and Israel remain open for a few more days and it's uncertain whether the Super Eagles forward will consider a move to either of those leagues.
Meanwhile, Dennis' international teammates, Chelsea-reared defender Ola Aina and Liverpool alum Taiwo Awoniyi, have been selected in Forest's Premier League roster as homegrown players.
A homegrown player means a player who, irrespective of nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).
