'One of the best performances I've seen in PL this season' - Ian Wright lauds Nottingham Forest RB Aina
Published: September 19, 2024
Arsenal icon Ian Wright was impressed with Ola Aina's performance for Nottingham Forest against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend on matchday three of the Premier League.
Steve Cooper's side shockingly got the better of the Reds, courtesy of a solitary effort from former Chelsea forward Cullum Hudson-Odoi in the 72nd minute of the tie which handed Forest their first win at Anfield in 55 years.
Aina played a vital role for the Tricky Trees, as he kept Luis Díaz, who had scored three Premier League goals before the fixture, under lock and key till the Columbia international got substituted on the half-hour mark.
The Super Eagles right back was then tasked to keep Cody Gakpo quiet and he did that admirably, not getting dribbled past by the Dutch winger, just as he did with Díaz.
Wright was enthralled with the performance of the Cobham Academy product, describing it as one of the best that he had seen in the English top flight this term.
"Ola Aina, the right-back, his performance at Anfield was one of the best performances I've seen in the Premier League this season."he told Wrighty's House podcast via Nottingham Forest News.
The 27-year-old hasn't missed a single minute this season and is undoubtedly one of the Forest's most reliable players.
His contract ends next summer, and it won't come as a surprise if Nottingham Forest offer him a new deal, having impressed during his stay at the club.
