Nottingham Forest in talks with Super Eagles star over new four-year contract
Published: September 19, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Premier League club Nottingham Forest are in discussions with Super Eagles right-back Ola Aina over a fresh multi-year contract.
Speculation in the local media indicated that Nottingham Forest were 'set to offer defender Ola Aina a new contract following his impressive performances this season'.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can one hundred percent confirm that the two-time European champions have already set the wheels in motion to tie him up to a new deal and negotiations are progressing smoothly with the player and his camp over prolonging his stay at the City Ground.
If a final agreement is reached between the parties, Aina will put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at Forest until at least the end of the 2027-2028 season as he has been offered a four-year deal.
Nottingham Forest have moved quickly to offer the Nigeria international a new deal in order to avoid losing him for free next summer.
The Chelsea academy product can sign a contract with a foreign club once the transfer window opens for business in January 2025, given that he is out of contract on June 30, 2025 as things stand.
Aina earned rave reviews from fans and pundits alike following his outstanding performance during Nottingham Forest's 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield, where he pocketed the in-form Luis Díaz.
Since joining Forest as a free agent in July 2023, he has logged twenty-six appearances in all competitions and has two goal involvements to his name.
On the international stage, Aina was officially named the best right-back at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, earning a spot in the Team of the Tournament selected by the CAF Technical Study Group.
