'Let's see what happens' - Ola Aina responds to contract talks with Nottingham Forest
Published: September 20, 2024
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has responded to reports at home and abroad suggesting that he is in talks with Nottingham Forest over a new long-term deal.
Allnigeriasoccer.com broke the news on Thursday that Nottingham Forest are in discussions with Ola Aina over a fresh four-year deal which would see him remain at the City Ground until the end of the 2027-2028 season, assuming an agreement is reached.
Aina arrived at Nottingham Forest on a free transfer last summer following the expiration of his contract at Torino.
The two-time European champions are keen to get him under a new multi-year contract following his brilliant displays week in, week out.
The Chelsea academy graduate has shown he's a very good player, having delivered high level performances on a weekly basis.
In the new season, the Nigeria star has played mostly at left-back, making people forget that his natural position is right-back.
And in his last outing for Forest against Liverpool at Anfield, his performance was extraordinary given that he was up against the in-form Colombian forward Luis Díaz who had netted three goals and registered an assist in the Premier League before the matchday four clash.
When asked to confirm reports suggesting that he's in talks with Forest over a new long-term deal, Aina told BBC Radio Nottinghamshire:" All I can say is I am really happy at Forest right now. Fantastic club, I feel at home and we're just building.
"I'm building and the club's building. Let's see what happens in the future."
Aina initially signed a one-year deal when he joined Nottingham Forest but the Reds triggered an option in his deal to extend it by a further twelve months, meaning he has roughly nine months left on his contract as things stand.
