Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle send scouts to watch Super Eagles forward
Published: September 21, 2024
Four Premier League clubs—Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United—are keeping a close eye on Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman ahead of a potential transfer at the end of the current season.
Last summer, Lookman was linked with possible moves to several top European clubs due to his outstanding performances for Atalanta, particularly his heroics in the UEFA Europa League final.
The Nigerian international delivered an unforgettable performance in the final, netting a hat-trick to secure a 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, propelling Atalanta to European glory.
Throughout the season, Lookman registered an impressive tally of 17 goals and 10 assists, elevating his profile among elite European clubs.
Among the suitors was Paris Saint-Germain, who saw Lookman as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, following the French star's move to Real Madrid.
Despite his attempts to facilitate a move by requesting to be left out of the squad, Lookman's transfer to PSG ultimately failed.
According to a report from TBR Football, scouts from Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Newcastle were dispatched to monitor Lookman, as well as his teammate Ederson, during Atalanta's recent UEFA Champions League clash against Arsenal.
Unfortunately, Lookman failed to make a significant impact, as Arsenal forced Atalanta to a goalless draw at the Gewiss Stadium and was substituted in the 89th minute by Lazar Samardžić.
Despite his quiet showing in that particular match, the Premier League clubs are expected to maintain their interest in the 26-year-old forward, whose consistent performances for Atalanta continue to make him a valuable target.
With several suitors closely monitoring his situation, Lookman's future remains one to watch ahead of next summer transfer window.
