Ligue 1: Moses Simon becomes Nantes most decisive player since promotion in 2013; brace for Adams
Published: September 22, 2024
Moses Simon broke Nantes' club record with his assist during the Yellow Canaries' 1-1 draw with Angers SCO, while Akor Adams bagged a brace as Montpellier defeated AJ Auxerre 3-2 at home in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday, September 22.
Simon picked out Johann Lepenant to give Nantes the lead in the 18th minute before Himad Abdelli grabbed the equalizer for Auxerre.
As published on Nantes' official website, the Super Eagles forward has now recorded 29 assists to become the club's the most decisive player since promotion to Ligue 1 in 2013, overtaking the late Emiliano Sala.
The 29-year-old has scored two goals and has been a provider for two in five games in the French top flight this term.
Adams was also the hero for Montpellier as they recorded their first win of the campaign over Auxerre.
Hamed Junior Traore gave Auxerre the lead in the first half before the former Flying Eagles forward put Montpellier back on level terms with a precise header, five minutes after the hour mark.
Modibo Sagnan put La Paillade ahead with another header in the 71st minute, but Ado Onaiwu quickly restored parity for the away side.
Adams grabbed the winner for Michel Der Zakarian's side in the 75th minute, placing Teji Savanier's pass beyond the reach of the goalkeeper to record his first brace in the Ligue 1 since last October.
The 24-year-old's form tailed off in the second half of the last campaign but seems to have rediscovered his goalscoring form, having registered three goals in five games this season.
