'How could you lose such a guy?' - Fenerbahce great tears into Mourinho for not signing Osimhen
Published: September 23, 2024
Fenerbahçe legend Selim Soydan has questioned José Mourinho's decision to sign Youssef En-Nesyri instead of Victor Osimhen.
The Yellow Canaries grabbed the signature of the Morocco international this summer from Sevilla but he has been unable to hit the ground running, scoring just one goal so far.
On the other hand, arch rival Galatasaray signed Osimhen on loan from Napoli and the Nigerian striker has notched two assists in his opening two games but yet to find the back of the net.
Both were on the pitch at the same time for the first time on Saturday in the Intercontinental Derby and the Napoli loanee made an impact on the game by grabbing an assist to help Galatasaray triumph 3-1.
En-Nesyri has come under criticism since the fixture though Vice President Acun Ilıcalı has leapt to his defence, stating that he wasn't impactful in the game due to lack of chances coming his way and stated that Osimhen was also quiet in the fixture.
Soydan is the latest critic of the Moroccan forward, calling out Mourinho for his decision to sign him instead of the reigning African Men's Player of the Year.
In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi: "How can you give 20 million Euros to this En-Nesyri? The guy can't score an empty net.
"I don't understand why Mourinho insists so much. Galatasaray bought Victor Osimhen. How could you lose such a guy?
"If necessary, you could have sent 1-2 players away, you shouldn't have lost Osimhen to Galatasaray."
Osimhen joined Galatasaray following the close of the summer transfer window in the major European leagues, after a proposed move to Chelsea fell through on deadline day.
