Published: September 23, 2024
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji scored a dramatic late winner as Arsenal clinched a 1-0 victory over Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium, keeping the Gunners' perfect start to the Premier League 2 season intact.
The Premier League 2 Player of the Month for August found the net in the dying embers of the match, securing all three points for Arsenal.
Despite a strong start from the Gunners, they struggled to break through a resolute Stoke defense that thwarted numerous attempts throughout the game.
Butler-Oyedeji, who had been booked in the 82nd minute, made his mark in the 96th minute, finishing off a well-placed assist from MichaĆ Rosiak.
With this victory, Arsenal have maintained a perfect record of four wins from four matches, sitting atop the table with 12 points, tied with West Ham in second.
Butler-Oyedeji has been a standout performer, netting fIVE goals and providing two assists in his four appearances in the Premier League 2 this season.
Born in London, Butler-Oyedeji joined Arsenal at eight and has trained several times with the first team, although he has yet to make an official appearance.
In search of game time, he went on loan to Accrington Stanley in January 2023 and then to Cheltenham Town in September 2023.
With his performances this season, he will hope to impress Mikel Arteta and secure a spot in the first team.
