One to watch: Beyond Limits product Ayodele scores again in UYL, this time against Real Madrid
Published: October 02, 2024
Nigerian forward Adeshina Ibrahim Ayodele has continued his strong start in European football, scoring in Lille's 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Youth League.
This goal marks his second in two European games, following a strike in Lille's 2-2 draw against Sporting Lisbon.
Soriba Diaone opened the scoring for Lille in the 40th minute, converting an assist from Younes Lachaab.
Just three minutes later, Ayodele doubled the lead with another finish from Lachaab's setup.
The strike gave Lille a two-goal lead as they headed into halftime at the Complexe Sportif de Luchin.
Real Madrid responded after the break, with Daniel Yanez scoring in the 57th minute.
As the pressure mounted for an equalizer, Ayodele was substituted in the 67th minute for Mel Ruben Akale.
Ayodele transferred to Europe in the summer after an agreement between Lille and Beyond Limits, the academy of Nigeria's Remo Stars.
Since then, he has impressed with his skills and versatility, validating Lille's decision to sign him from Nigeria.
Ahead of their next match in the UEFA Youth League against Atlético Madrid on October 23, Lille have four points from their opening two games in the competition.
