Galatasaray star Osimhen wins Super Lig Goal of the Week for stunning strike against Kasimpasa
Published: October 03, 2024
Victor Osimhen’s 28th minute strike in Galatasaray's 3-3 thrilling draw with Kasımpaşa at RAMS Park last weekend has been voted as the beIN SPORTS matchday seven Goal of the Week.
The 25-year-old demonstrated his decisiveness and sharpness to grab the goal, by avoiding being offside, and controlling the ball perfectly with his hips before firing the ball over Andreas Gianniotis, the Kasımpaşa shot-stopper.
Of the 13,188 votes cast, the Super Eagles striker emerged as the clear winner with 77.96%, beating Edin Visca, Andreaw Gravillon, and Taulant Seferi strikes to the award.
Despite not participating in pre-season due to his transfer complications, the reigning African Men's Player of the Year has quickly established himself as a key player for Galatasaray.
He has started every game that he has been named in the matchday squad and has either scored or assisted in all his four appearances for the 24-time Turkish champions.
Due to an injury, Osimhen will be unable to add to his tally when the Lions square up against Latvian side Futbola Klubs Rīgas Futbola Skola, otherwise known as FK RFS, on matchday two of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
With the severity of his injury unknown, it remains to be seen whether he will be fit enough to partake in the Super Eagles' back-to-back games against Libya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
