Samu Omorodion: PSG interested in Porto striker who almost joined Chelsea in the summer
Published: October 16, 2024
French giants Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly setting their sights on Samu Omorodion, the young Spain forward who is also eligible to represent Nigeria.
The 20-year-old, who was on the verge of joining Chelsea last summer, saw his move to the Premier League side collapse despite successfully passing medical examinations.
Instead, Omorodion made a switch to FC Porto from Atlético de Madrid where he has quickly made a name for himself in Portuguese football.
Since his arrival at Porto, Omorodion has enjoyed a remarkable run, scoring seven goals in seven appearances across all competitions.
His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from several top European clubs, including PSG.
According to reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes, PSG is prepared to offer a staggering €100 million offer for the talented striker.
The Ligue 1 champions are keen to bolster their attacking options with the signing of Omorodion, especially following the underwhelming performances of their current forwards, Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos.
Both players joined the club for substantial fees but have yet to deliver the expected returns on investment.
PSG's interest in Omorodion is evident but questions remain about whether the club will follow through with such a hefty bid, especially considering their previous withdrawal from negotiations for another Nigerian star, Victor Osimhen, due to financial concerns.
