What AC Milan coach said about the possibility of Chukwueze playing together with Pulisic
Published: October 19, 2024
AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca has had his say on whether Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze can play alongside Christian Pulisic.
Chukwueze has played second fiddle to the former Chelsea forward since he arrived at the San Siro last summer, with the latter getting the nod over the former under former Rossoneri manager Stefano Piola and now Fonseca.
The Nigeria international had a fantastic pre-season and started two of the first three Serie games but having failed to impress, he has been dropped to the bench.
Conversely, Pulisic has been able to build on his brilliant first season with the Italian giants, registering six goals and two assists in nine outings this term, making him the player with the most goal contributions for Milan.
Speaking in his pre-match match conference ahead of his side's clash with Udinese, Fonseca responded to the question of whether Chukwueze can play alongside the USMNT star.
In quotes relayed by the Daily Milan, the Portuguese tactician side: "Yes. Pulisic is not playing open right now, he is a playmaker on the right. It is possible.”
Fonseca has named the two forwards together in the starting lineup twice this season, he fielded them in the Serie A opening game against Torino and their matchday three fixture with SS Lazio.
Pulisic's versatility makes it easy for the Milan manager to field them together- the United States of America international played behind the striker in the first match they started and was deployed as a left winger in the second.
