'Beautiful' - Former PL stars Hargreaves, Petit say the same thing about Iwobi's goal against Wolves
Published: November 24, 2024
Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit and ex-Manchester United star Owen Hargreaves have lauded Alex Iwobi for his brilliant left-footed finish during the first half of Fulham's 4-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers in a Premier League encounter at Craven Cottage on Saturday, November 23.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have been Iwobi's favorite opponent since he turned professional, and his strike on Saturday marked the sixth time he has found the net against the Molineux Stadium outfit.
The Hale End Academy graduate scored three goals against Wolves during his time at Everton and has found the net in three consecutive matches against them since joining Fulham in September 2023.
Raúl Jiménez hit the woodwork a quarter of an hour into the game, but just five minutes later, Iwobi put the Cottagers ahead with a stunning left-footed strike from 20 yards, curling the ball past Wolves goalkeeper José Sá.
Iwobi's brilliant goal counted for nothing as the visitors came from behind to secure a victory, thanks to goals from Matheus Cunha (2), João Gomes and Gonçalo Guedes.
Speaking post-match on Premier League Productions, Petit and Hargreaves both described Iwobi's goal as 'beautiful'.
"How about this for a finish from Alex Iwobi- beautiful, class," Owen Hargreaves said.
Petit added: "Yes, some beautiful left-footed goals today".
Iwobi has registered five goal involvements (3 goals, 2 assists) in twelve Premier League games in 2024-2025.
