'You have to perform' - Tosin reveals Chelsea are taking Conference League very seriously
Published: November 28, 2024
Tosin Adarabioyo was the player selected to attend Chelsea's pre-match press conference on Wednesday, suggesting that he will be involved in some capacity on Thursday when they take on FC Heidenheim in a UEFA Conference League encounter at Voith-Arena.
Twice winners of the Champions League, Europa League, European Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup, Chelsea are competing in this season's Conference League after finishing sixth in the 2023-2024 Premier League.
The Blues have made an impressive start to the Conference League, as they are yet to drop points in the competition.
They have won all three of their matches and scored sixteen goals—more than any other team in the tournament.
Judging by their results, including the qualifying rounds, Chelsea is taking the competition seriously—a point highlighted by Tosin.
A summer signing from Fulham, the Nigeria Football Federation target has featured more prominently in the Conference League than in the Premier League, playing the full 90 minutes in two group-stage matches.
As the busy festive fixture schedule approaches, Tosin understands the significance of the upcoming games in ensuring Chelsea stay on track this season.
In quotes relayed by Chelsea's official website, Tosin stated: "It’s a competition that we take very seriously. There are no days you can switch off, you have to perform every single day.
"Even this month where we will have 9 or 10 games, we have no time to switch off whether it’s recovery, training or something else, it’s a big festive period and we are here to get results.
"I think it’s clear to see even in the growth from the start of the season has been tremendous. We believe there is so much more to give and achieve together. We are growing together each day."
Apart from Tosin, two other Super Eagles-eligible players in the shape of Tyrique George and Carney Chukwuemeka will be named in Chelsea's gameday squad to face FC Heidenheim.
