'I haven't seen such hunger' - Former Fenerbahce winger amazed by Osimhen's incredible desire
Published: December 03, 2024
Former Fenerbahçe winger Tümer Metin has been amazed by the performances of Victor Osimhen for Galatasaray.
The Super Eagles striker has taken the Trendyol Süper Lig by storm, helping Okan Buruk’s side maintain their status as the best team in the Turkish top-flight.
Galatasaray lead the standings after 13 games with 35 points, three points ahead of second-placed Fenerbahçe and are the only team yet to lose a game.
Osimhen has contributed in no small measure to the form of the Istanbul-based side, bagging six goals and three assists in eight games.
The Lion are also two points adrift of the UEFA Europa League table-toppers S.C Lazio and occupy one of the automatic qualification spots for the round of 16.
The Nigerian striker has equally played a part in their form in the competition, with three goals and two assists.
Metin has been amazed with the performances of a 25-year-old whose hunger, he said, is one of a kind.
"I liked Osimhen very much again. An incredible desire, an incredible enthusiasm and an incredible search... I haven't seen such hunger in a football player for a long time." He told TV100 via haber sari kirmizi.
"He goes with a hunger that brings the same feeling to everyone. He supports him, pulls him to his side, it's like he's gathering all the players around him with a rope around his waist. It's an incredible image.
"I have seen very few football players with such a strong feeling at every moment of the match, so concentrated between those three posts. In other words, you fall apart in between,"
Osimhen is well appreciated by Galatasaray fans, who would love him to stay beyond this season, but the club are likely to be priced out a move for him.
The Napoli-owned forward has a reported valuation of €75 million, a mammoth difference from the Lion's highest-ever acquisition, Gabriel Sara, who was signed from Norwich City for €18 million.
