Harriman-Annous enhances reputation with goal on FA Youth Cup debut for Arsenal
Published: December 04, 2024
Andre Harriman-Annous enhanced his reputation as one of the most promising teenagers of Nigerian descent on the books of a Premier League club by scoring on his FA Youth Cup debut as Arsenal secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Hertford Town to advance to the competition's fourth round.
Also making their FA Youth Cup debuts on Tuesday night were Samuel Onyekachukwu and Ife Ibrahim, while two other players of Nigerian descent, Josh Ogunnaike and Daniel Oyetunde, remained unused substitutes.
Harriman-Annous gave the Gunners a perfect start by opening the scoring inside seven minutes, but O'Brien levelled matters midway through the first half.
Dan Casey put Arsenal back in front in the 42nd minute and Louie Copley extended the lead shortly after, sending Arsenal into halftime with a 3-1 advantage.
In the second half, Finley Lynch pulled one back from the spot in the 54th minute but Casey, with a long-range strike restored Arsenal's two-goal advantage at minute 66.
Arsenal faced a late scare when Devshi made it 4-3 with five minutes to go, but they held on through ten minutes of stoppage time to seal the win.
Harriman-Annous, who started the 2024-2025 season as a first year scholar, made debuts in the U18 Premier League Cup, FA Youth Cup, UEFA Youth League, Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy this season.
His composed finish against Hertford Town took his tally for the season to eleven goals in all competitions, including two for the development squad.
