Besiktas presidential hopeful interested in move for Southampton striker Onuachu
Published: December 24, 2024
As reported by 61saat, Beşiktaş Presidential candidate Serdal Adalı is eyeing a move for Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu.
Adalı has reportedly contacted Southampton officials over a possible deal and he is ready to get the deal over the line in the event he becomes Beşiktaş’ President.
Beşiktaş sit sixth on the Trendyol Süper Lig standings and are 18 points off first-placed Galatasaray, indicating that the club are unlikely to win the league this season.
They could still qualify for the UEFA Europa League or the Conference League and the club could make do with some additions to the squad ahead of next month's transfer window.
Onuachu has caught the eye due to his fantastic form during his loan term with Trabzonspor last term, scoring 17 goals in 25 games.
Trabzonspor attempted to sign him permanently, but they could not meet Southampton's valuation.
It is unknown whether they still retain an interest in the Nigerian striker as they have Simon Banza, one of Süper Lig's most in-form strikers, in their ranks.
Banza is on loan from Portuguese side SC Braga and has been superb for the Black Sea Storm, scoring 10 goals in 13 league games to rank second on the top-scorers chart.
Onuachu would relish a move back to Turkey due to his lack of game time with Southampton this season.
He has made just nine appearances across all competitions for the Saints, and he is yet to register a goal involvement.
