Premier League duo Brentford and Brighton make enquiries over the availability of Kayode
Published: December 28, 2024
Premier League clubs Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford are interested in signing Fiorentina fullback Michael Kayode as the winter transfer window approaches, according to Sport Italia.
Kayode, who was a key player for Fiorentina last season, has found his playing time limited this campaign.
The 20-year-old Borgomanero-born Nigerian has been relegated to a backup role behind Brazilian fullback Dodo, making twelve appearances across all competitions, only one of which was as a starter.
In search of more opportunities, Kayode has emerged as a potential January signing for Brighton and Brentford.
Aston Villa expressed interest in the defender last summer, but negotiations fell through as sporting director Monchi could not meet Fiorentina's demands.
Fiorentina's stance seems to have softened, with Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà reporting that Brighton and Brentford have recently enquired about Kayode, and talks could advance swiftly.
A move to the Premier League could provide Kayode with the playing time he seeks and an opportunity to develop his talent further.
Both Brighton and Brentford are known for nurturing young players, making them appealing destinations for the promising defender.
