What Fulham coach Marco Silva said about Iwobi ahead of PL clash against Bournemouth
Published: December 29, 2024
Fulham coach Marco Silva singled out Nigeria national teamer Alex Iwobi for praise before his side's Premier League meeting with Bournemouth at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.
The Hale End Academy graduate has demonstrated his versatility this season, featuring in various positions.
Iwobi is playing with so much freedom and has impressed in multiple roles, including central midfield, left midfield, right midfield, left winger and right winger.
Statistically speaking, he's having his best season as a Premier League player with eight goal involvements (5 goals, 3 assists) in eighteen appearances, more than he managed in his first season at Fulham
Although Iwobi has failed to either score or assist in his last four matches in the English top-flight, Silva has highlighted his offensive contributions to the team.
In quotes relayed by the official website of the Cottagers, the Portuguese football tactician stated: "Alex Iwobi has been great. Last season he was top, his best season up until that point, but this season is going to be better for him.
"He’s in a very good level, he’s scoring, he’s assisting, all in different positions."
With Emile Smith Rowe rated as doubtful for the visit of the Cherries, Iwobi will be hoping to start in his favoured attacking midfield role.
Iwobi and his Fulham teammates will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to seven games against Bournemouth.
