18yo left-back eligible for Nigeria, Egypt and England trains with Arsenal first team pre-Brentford
Published: December 31, 2024
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta promoted tri-national left-back Cam'ron Ismail to first team training on Tuesday, a day before his side take on Brentford in a London derby at the Gtech Community Stadium, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Born in London eighteen years ago, Ismail is eligible to represent African giants Nigeria and Egypt through his father and mother respectively, as well as England's Young Lions.
The Egypt Football Association are in pole position for his services as of now, having convinced the fullback to attend U19 and U20 training camps in the past.
Arteta observed Ismail at close quarters during Tuesday's training session at Sobha Realty Training Centre in London Colney.
Ismail was invited to make up the numbers, with fullbacks Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu still sidelined due to injuries.
However, his chances of being included in the matchday squad are minimal as Myles Lewis-Skelly, Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, Kieran Tierney, and Jurrien Timber were all present at the training session.
Although Ismail has yet to make his first team debut, the Hale End Academy graduate has trained with the senior team several times.
He made his debuts off the bench in the UEFA Youth League, EFL Trophy and Premier League 2 this season.
Ismail's U18 teammate, Andre Harriman-Annous, also participated in the training session, along with Ethan Nwaneri, who has been with the first team since the start of pre-season.
Ismail was originally a striker before he was converted to a left-back, where he can contribute defensively and offensively.
