'Difficult transfer' - Galatasaray insider confirms Turkish champions are interested in Ola Aina
Published: January 02, 2025
Galatasaray insider Kutlu Akpınar has confirmed that the Turkish Super Lig champions are interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina but admitted that a transfer would be difficult to pull off in January 2025.
The Nigeria international has now entered the last six months of his contract at this season's Premier League surprise package, Nottingham Forest, and can sign a pre-contract with a foreign club this month.
Ola Aina has put himself in the shop window with a series of outstanding performances for Nottingham Forest.
The Chelsea academy graduate is a key player for manager Nuno Espírito Santo, having started every Premier League game for the Reds this season.
Nottingham Forest are keen to tie him down to a new deal and have opened negotiations with the fullback and his camp.
Aina is rumored to be on the radar of Premier League champions Manchester City, who are considering him as a potential replacement for the aging Kyle Walker.
The Super Eagles star is high on the wishlist of Galatasaray, who are in the market for a right-back in the January transfer window, according to Galatasaray reporter Kutlu Akpınar.
Speaking on the TRT Spor broadcast, via habersarikirmizi.com, he said: "Galatasaray is looking for a right back. One of these names is Ola Aina from Nottingham Forest.
"Galatasaray has not made an official offer to this name yet, but he is one of the players they are interested in. I see it as a difficult transfer."
The London-born Ola Aina had a five-year stint at Italian Serie A club Torino before moving back to England to sign with Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2023.
