No going back: Super Eagles striker Sadiq agrees transfer to 6-time La Liga champions, subject to medical
Published: January 03, 2025
Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq is on the verge of joining Valencia from Real Sociedad on loan.
According to reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the lanky forward will have his medical today to complete the loan deal.
A buy option clause has been inserted into the loan deal, meaning that Valencia can sign the Nigeria international permanently at the end of the season.
The six-time Spanish champions are languishing in 19th position on the La Liga standings, with goalscoring being one of the problems affecting their results.
They have scored just 16 goals in 17 games, with the club's top-scorer being former Spain youth international Hugo Duro, who has scored four goals.
Valencia will be hoping that Sadiq can help put an end to their goal-scoring woes as they continue their push to avoid relegation.
The 27-year-old has struggled for form at Real Sociedad this season and has unsurprisingly been given small game time by head coach Imanol Alguacil.
This led to him seeking more game time elsewhere as his agent offered his services to Sevilla, Getafe and Valencia.
His next adventure is now set to be with the Basque-based side and he will be hoping to rediscover his goalscoring form with the club.
